Arroyo Seco Bridge Pasadena: 11X8.5 Acrylic on #140 Strathmore. I spent the day trying to recreate a painting I sold back in 2011 for a new exhibition called “HOME SHOW” Opening Reception: Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 5-8pm at the Malaga Cove Library 2400 Via Campesina Palos Verdes Estates, Ca 90274 . It was a huge improvement in light details so I’m happy to be forced into this repeat.
Randy Sprout began his art career in 1964 at the University of Iowa, with printmaking and studying with Mauricio Lasansky and Dr. John Schultz. He graduated with a BA in fine arts. In 1968 Army service in Korea interrupted his art for two years, after which he studied with Robert Heineken, Jan Stussy, Ray Brown, Sam Amato, Richard Diebenkorn and Stanton MacDonald-Wright, at the UCLA Graduate School of Fine Arts. Excellent composition and application!. The reflected light in the under pass is magic!
Randy Sprout replied:
Thank you very much my friend! That light lasted lest than 4 minutes as I was painting it. Like a huge sun dial this bridge wiped out the magic light so very fast.

Thanks Warren, at the end of this painting that was literally what I was doing, dripping light through where I thought it might go. My photographs of this scene are pathetic, with no water at all in the river, so I was thrilled when this came out looking like fast moving water in the shade! It's going into a big snooty show this week which open Dec 4th, so I will let you know what happens.
